The 4th edition of “Les Rendez-vous Ophtalmo de Bobo” (ROBO) took place in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, bringing together ophthalmologists, optometrists, trainees, and eye care advocates from across the region.
This year’s spotlight was on diabetic retinopathy, a growing concern in many parts of Africa. Notably, Dr. Walid Kagone also spoke to the public about leukocoria (the glow) a potential early sign of retinoblastoma and other childhood eye conditions and used the Know The Glow banner as an educational tool to raise awareness.
The two-day event (June 13–14, 2025) offered a valuable platform for hands-on workshops, community engagement, and regional collaboration in strengthening early detection and eye health systems.
