On World Cancer Day, 4th February, the Know The Glow–Bayelsa Medical University (KTG-BMU) team, led by the chapter Treasurer, Alaere Owi, visited Community Secondary School, Opolo to raise awareness about cancer, with a special focus on Retinoblastoma (eye cancer).
The team engaged over 100 students across four classes, introducing Know The Glow’s mission and educating students on identifying “The Glow” (white reflex). Using visual aids from the chapter banner, students learned how the glow can be spotted in photographs and when light is shone into the eye, as well as the appropriate steps to take when the glow is noticed.
Through education and early awareness, we continue to empower communities to protect children’s sight and lives.
