ISOO Rio 2026

Last week in Rio de Janeiro, KnowTheGlow had the opportunity to present at ISOO 2026 and it was a meaningful reminder of just how global and collaborative this work has become.

Invited to speak by St. Jude’s Global at their Early Detection Workshop, Co-Founder Megan Webber spoke about the importance of Partnerships for Early Detection in Limited Resource Settings.  Attending with KTG Partner Liaison, Caitlin Villante, the two were thrilled to meet in person so many ocular oncologists they’ve worked alongside over the years. These are the physicians leading care for children with retinoblastoma in their countries, often under incredibly challenging circumstances. Being able to spend time together, share updates, and hear firsthand how their programs are evolving brought real perspective to the impact of early detection efforts.

Equally energizing was meeting new clinicians who are thinking deeply about how awareness can strengthen the work already happening in their nations. There was a clear openness to collaboration and to how we can help guide families earlier, support referral pathways, and ultimately find more children in time.

Throughout the conference, conversations repeatedly came back to two themes: progress and persistence. It was inspiring to hear about new treatments, ongoing studies, and advances in care. At the same time, many shared the ongoing challenges of late presentation and barriers to access which are all reminders of why awareness and early detection remain so critical.

We left Rio more encouraged than ever. The science is advancing. The clinical community is deeply committed. And there is growing alignment around the need to reach families earlier.

We’re grateful to be part of this global network and excited for what lies ahead.
