Bridge to Brisbane 2022

Last year, we at KTG shared a story about a then five year old little warrior from Queensland, Australia named Isabelle, who has Retinoblastoma diagnosis (cancer of the retina). Although she is moderately visually impaired, she does not let this disability hold her back in any way! Isabelle’s family and team of doctors were determined to participate in an annual event to spread awareness of the Glow, the sign that potentially saved Isabelle’s life.  This led to a fun run event called The Bridge to Brisbane – a fun run to raise awareness of the Glow and eye diseases.

The Bridge to Brisbane took place again this year and it was a huge success! We had more patients and families as well as doctors, nurses, orthoptists, ocularists, trainee eye surgeons, admin team and families. Funds were raised for the Children’s Hospital Foundation which helped to promote awareness! Another successful event to raise public awareness for glow-related eye diseases and drive action to prevent childhood blindness.

We at KTG continue to be amazed by Isabelle and her family’s determination to turn what was a very difficult diagnosis into a force for good and change! We look forward to watching the KTG team participate at the “Bridge to Brisbane” event for many years to come!
