During World Retinoblastoma Week 2026, Know The Glow partnered with Cancer Advocacy Nigeria (CANCAD) to deliver a three-day awareness outreach at St. Philomena Catholic Hospital.
Across May 14, 15, and 18, Know The Glow Student Volunteer Angel Aroaye and a team of volunteers engaged mothers in antenatal and postnatal wards, reaching 120 mothers, surpassing the original target of 100. Sessions focused on early recognition of leukocoria, the white eye reflex, a key warning sign of retinoblastoma.
Beyond mothers, nurses and matrons were also engaged, extending awareness to frontline healthcare workers who play a critical role in early identification and referral.
This impact was made possible through dedicated volunteers, thoughtful collaboration, and a shared commitment to ensuring earlier detection and better outcomes for children affected by retinoblastoma.
A sincere thank you to Angel Aroaye, all volunteers, and CANCAD in Nigeria who made this campaign a success. Your dedication, coordination, and commitment helped bring this impactful World Retinoblastoma Week awareness campaign to life and reach mothers and healthcare workers with vital early detection messages.
