KTG Attends Global Ophthalmology Summit

KTG Co-Founder, Megan Webber, had the great privilege of attending the Global Ophthalmology Summit in Chicago this August, and it was an experience she won’t soon forget.

The chance to meet so many colleagues from around the world, many of whom KTG had only known through Zoom, was both energizing and inspiring. The opportunity to hear firsthand about the initiatives taking place globally to address the most pressing issues in ophthalmology was nothing short of invigorating.

KTG had just wrapped up a successful awareness campaign in Ghana, which made it especially meaningful to reconnect in person with Dr. Vera Essuman, whom Megan first met in Kenya two summers ago, and to spend time with Ghanaian colleague Dr. Hornametor Afake and the legendary Dr. Geoff Tabin of Cure Blindness.  Reuniting with the host of the event, Dr. R.V. Paul Chan, and Dr. Hunter Cherwek from Orbis’ CyberSight was like catching up with family as Megan has known both for many years.

Equally meaningful was the chance to meet in person with doctors working on ROP solutions like Dr. Akwasi Ahmed and Dr. Armie Harper, and, of course, meeting Dr. Abeba Tesfay who has been a longtime advocate for KTG awareness in Ethiopia. Each conversation underscored the global spirit of collaboration that drives this community forward.

Megan left Chicago deeply encouraged by the dedication of so many leaders working tirelessly to bring vision to those at risk of losing it.
