Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Ruth Ngaruiya brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role as Program Manager for Africa at Know the Glow.
Ruth’s commitment to supporting children with cancer is not a new one. When her high school friend Grace’s son was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in 2013, Ruth stood by Grace throughout her son’s recovery journey. Later, when Grace founded Victorious Children Cancer Support CBO, a community-based organization in Kenya, Ruth extended her support by independently assisting parents and caregivers of children diagnosed with various cancers. She provided financial help whenever possible, especially to those unable to afford Kenya’s National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Joining KnowTheGlow is a natural progression of Ruth’s dedication to making a difference. She is deeply passionate about the organization’s mission to raise global awareness of early detection to eliminate preventable childhood blindness. Ruth is excited to leverage her skills and experience to expand KnowTheGlow’s impact across Africa and ensure families have access to life-changing resources.
Outside of her professional and community work, Ruth enjoys DIY home projects and going on safaris at the various wildlife parks in Kenya. She looks forward to collaborating with KnowTheGlow’s global team to advance its vital mission.
