Celebrate a cancer-free milestone with the Lucas Navarrete Champion of Awareness Belt!

Posted on 2019-02-18

In 2017, the Navarrete family celebrated their son, Lucas’, five-year cancer-free anniversary and now the Navarrete family is honoring one lucky child and their cancer-free milestone in honor of their own son’s heroic fight against cancer!

Their story began when the pediatrician at Lucas’ six-month checkup noticed that his eye turned inward. They were referred to an ophthalmologist who dilated Lucas’ eye but was unable to immediately determine whether he was suffering from Coats’ Disease or Retinoblastoma. The Navarrete family was referred to specialists at Texas Retina Associates where they definitively diagnosed Lucas with Retinoblastoma. Lucas’ eye was enucleated to prevent the spread of the cancer and to save his life.

For Lucas’ five-year cancer-free anniversary, his family gave him a special “Champion of Awareness” championship belt to commemorate both his courage and his ongoing positive efforts to spread the word about Retinoblastoma. He has become an active advocate of Retinoblastoma awareness and now Lucas and his family want to celebrate another individual who is also marking a cancer-free milestone.

In partnership with Know The Glow, the Navarrete Family will be giving away a personalized Champion of Awareness belt to honor and recognize another child who has also faced their own battle against this childhood disease and is celebrating a cancer-free milestone.

Do you have a family member or friend who should be considered for this honor? If so, send an email to info@knowtheglow.org with the following details. All entries must be received by March 15th, 2019.
